Bulk Write Gated by Quorum
URI: https://docs.ankatech.co/errors/quorum-bulk-write-gated
HTTP Status: 409 Conflict
When you see this
A write that combines several changes asked for one the deployment quorum policy gates. Such a write cannot become one quorum request, and making the changes the quorum does not gate while the gated one waits would apply half of what was asked, so nothing was written. Two writes answer it:
- the bulk deployment-policy write (
PUT /api/v3/admin/platform/deployment/policies), when it names a policy the deployment quorum gates; - the provisioning of a tenant (
POST /api/v3/admin/platform/tenants/provision) withallowsTenantOverride: true, while the deployment quorum gates granting a tenant the override of the deployment policies: no tenant, administrator or policy row is created.
Quorum (M-of-N) approval is described in Quorum Approval*.
Common Causes
- The deployment quorum policy gates
DEPLOYMENT_ALGORITHM_POLICY_CHANGEorDEPLOYMENT_ROTATION_POLICY_CHANGE, and the bulk body carries that policy. - The deployment quorum policy gates
TENANT_POLICY_OVERRIDE_GRANT, and the provisioning request asks for the override.

How to Resolve
- Change each policy through its own endpoint: each answers
202with a quorum request the platform approvers decide. - Or leave out of the bulk body the policies the deployment quorum gates.
- For a provisioning, provision the tenant without
allowsTenantOverride, then grant the override through the override endpoint, where the platform approvers decide it.
