Projection Re-Drive Pass Not Found

When you see this

A platform operator read a projection re-drive pass (GET /api/v3/admin/platform/projections/republish-passes/{passId}) that the answering admin-api replica does not retain. Nothing was changed.

Passes are kept in memory by the replica that ran them, the most recent 32, and are lost when that replica restarts. This answer therefore says nothing about how the pass ended: it may have succeeded, failed, or still be running on another replica.

Common Causes

  • The admin-api replica that ran the pass restarted.
  • More recent passes pushed it out of the 32 the replica retains.
  • The request reached a different admin-api replica from the one that ran the pass.
  • The passId named a platform check that found nothing to republish; such a check is named by a 409 while it runs and leaves no pass when it ends.
  • The passId was copied incorrectly.

How to Resolve

  1. List the passes the replica retains (GET /api/v3/admin/platform/projections/republish-passes, most recent first) and check whether one is RUNNING.
  2. If none is running and the projections may still be stale, submit the republish again (POST /api/v3/admin/platform/projections/republish); its 202 names a new pass to follow.
  3. If a re-drive is running, the republish answers 409 naming it in extensions.passId (see Projection Re-Drive Already In Progress); follow that pass instead.
